My name is Danny Lemon, and I’m 29 years old at the time of this site’s launch.

I’m a single mom with a dream of building a business around something I truly love and enjoy. My journey into the world of invertebrates began in 2024 when a tiny Phidippus audax jumping spider caught my attention on a Walmart shopping cart. One curious moment turned into a passion, and before long I was experimenting with wild-caught isopods and eventually purchased my very first culture of Armadillidium maculatum “Zebra” isopods.

As most keepers know — you can’t stop at just one species! I’ve honestly lost count of how many species I keep now because I’m constantly discovering and adding new ones to my collection.

Thank you to everyone who has supported and fueled my passion for both the art and invertebrate communities. Over time, my collection grew larger and larger, and I got tired of constantly reading tiny labels to figure out which bin was which. So I started making my own custom picture labels. To my surprise, people really loved them when I shared them online — and that’s how Inverts Oasis was born.

Today, I vend at reptile expos around Ohio, where I get to meet all kinds of like-minded buggy weirdos and share both my bugs and artwork with the world.

As a naturally introverted person, invertebrates became more than just a hobby for me. They brought me comfort during difficult times, gave me something peaceful to focus on, and helped me connect with others in ways I never expected. What started as a simple fascination turned into a passion, a creative outlet, and a community that truly feels like home.
